Do you think of Facebook even when you are doing your homework?

OR

Do you log in to Facebook the moment you wake up from bed?

Well, according to an article at CNN Health , if your answer is yes, then you are on your way to become a "Facebook Addict".

Facebook

Facebook is a free social networking service that was launched in 2004 and now, it has been one of the most addictive social services available in the internet. Well, many of us do use Facebook as a platform to let us stay connected with our family members or friends just like me. It also allows us to share with others about our favorite music, interests, activities and many more. Here's a video interview on how a father found her long lost daughter using Facebook.

However, Facebook have their own con's such as people could make use of your photos, your account could be hack so that the hacker can get private information about yourself and many more.

Even nowadays , Facebook have become an application where anyone can be so addicted to it easily. Due to this, you will waste many precious hours of time. On the Facebook’s “press room”, statistics amazingly shows that:

  • More than 800 million active users

    • More than 350 million active users currently access Facebook through their mobile devices

      • On average, people on Facebook install apps more than 20 million times every day

        • Average user has 130 friends

Signs You Might Be A Facebook Addict

Here are some signs showing weather you are a Facebook addict or not.

        • Gave up your social activities such as hanging out with friends and playing your favorite sports game just for the sake of Facebook

          • Spent more than an hour on Facebook

            • Keep logging in and out of Facebook every 5-10 minutes. (This is dangerous!)

              • Attempts to cut down the use of Facebook keeps failing

                • Lose an adequate amount of sleep just because of Facebook

What happen if you are an addict?

Well, if you are an addict, you will be suffering from Facebook Addiction Disorder or “FAD”. Facebook Addiction Disorder (FAD) is a term introduced by US psychologists for those who are addicted to Facebook and their life is really affected by their uncontrolled activities on Facebook.

This is a serious matter as right now, US psychologists believe that there are an estimated 350 million around the world. Can you believe it?

                   Ways to overcome Facebook Addiction

                  • Admit that you are an addict and you have this problem
Take a deep breath and acknowledging that you have this problem. By acknowledging, it will actually help you to move on and proceed to overcoming the addiction. BE 100% CONFIDENT!

                  • Turn off the email notifications
Do you realize that every time someone updates his or her status, you will get an email notification on your email accounts? Actually, this notifications acts like a devil inviting you to check your Facebook. Ask yourself, do you really need to be notified every single thing even if it is not important? So what are you waiting for, go and turn off the notifications NOW!

                  • Set a time limit or day to use Facebook
For example, you can set a time limit (15-20 minutes) and set a day (Friday or weekends) to visit your Facebook account and check for any updates. Just treat this as a REWARD for your long day of working or studying. But remember, you are only allowed to spent at a maximum of 30 minutes ONLY

                  • Get yourself busy with sport activities
By involving yourself and get busy with sport activities, it will actually help you by getting yourself away from the computer. By the time you are tired, you will definitely don’t have the time to switch on your computer instead, you will go to sleep.  TRY IT!

                  • Deactivate your Facebook account
This is a last resort if you still cannot overcome your addiction. Some of my closest friend who is so addicted to Facebook did this and it actually WORKS! By deactivating your account, you will have this kind of mentality where Facebook do not exist in your life and will actually helped you to focused on doing other things.
